NARMC Teams Receive State Recognition for Excellence in Stroke Transitions of Care

Harrison, AR-March 2026 – North Arkansas Regional Medical Center’s stroke care team has been recognized by the Arkansas Department of Health for excellence in helping stroke patients safely transition from hospital care to recovery at home.

The hospital’s ICU Nursing and Case Management teams received the Stroke Transitions of Care Award, an honor presented through the Arkansas Department of Health’s statewide stroke quality improvement program. Only two hospitals in Arkansas received the award for the most recent program year.

The recognition highlights the work these teams do to ensure stroke patients and their families leave the hospital with the education, follow-up care, and resources needed to support recovery after discharge.

The Arkansas Department of Health evaluates hospitals using measures from the American Heart Association Get with the Guidelines Stroke Registry, which tracks key elements of stroke care including defect-free care, stroke band documentation, and door-to-CT times. Hospitals must meet strict designation requirements through the state or a national accrediting body to qualify for these recognitions.

The Transition of Care Award specifically recognizes organizations or individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to supporting stroke patients and their families during the transition from hospital care to the next stage of recovery.

Stroke care requires coordination across many teams, from emergency care and intensive care to rehabilitation and discharge planning. The Transition of Care Award highlights the work of the NARMC ICU and Case Management teams who help ensure patients and families leave the hospital with the support, resources, and guidance needed to continue their recovery.
