Nurse Residency Program NARMC

The purpose of the NARMC Nurse Residency Program is to facilitate your transition as new RNs and LPNs into the healthcare field. The program benefits the participants, as well as contributing to the healthcare system’s ongoing commitment to safety, quality, and integrity.

Eligibility

  • Graduated from an accredited nursing program and possess a current nursing license in Arkansas or compact state nursing license.​

Details

  • Cohorts start two times a year for new graduate nurses.
  • Residents attend a total of 160 hours of classes during the two-year program.​

Measurement and Evaluation

  • Residents will be required to complete a performance gap analysis the first week in order to individualize their learning plan.
  • Residents will complete evaluations throughout the program.
  • Post-residency metrics will be collected annually for five years.
  • All participants in the residency program will be asked to provide feedback.
  • All of the above data will be compiled into one aggregate report at the end of each cohort and presented to the organization.

Guided Clinical Experience with Preceptor

  • Residents complete clinical shifts with preceptors in their hired unit.
  • Residents receive an understanding of the patient's continuum of care and develop relationships with staff members in other departments that interact frequently with their home department as well as other team members throughout the hospital.
