The Claude Parrish Cancer Center is pleased to offer Low-Dose Radiation Therapy (LDRT), a non-invasive outpatient treatment that can help ease the pain and inflammation caused by osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Although radiation therapy is most often associated with cancer treatment, LDRT has been safely used for many years to treat painful joint conditions. This evidence-based approach is designed to reduce inflammation, relieve discomfort, and help you move more comfortably, especially if other treatments have not worked or are not an option for you.

Benefits of LDRT may include:

  • Comfortable, non-invasive treatments that are well tolerated, even for older or higher-risk patients
  • The ability to treat multiple joints in one course of care
  • Long-lasting relief, often up to two years
  • Minimal side effects and can be repeated if needed

While LDRT does not reverse existing joint damage, many patients experience significant pain relief and improved mobility after just a few sessions.

A referral from your healthcare provider is required to determine if this treatment is right for you.
