Harrison, AR (October 3, 2024) – North Arkansas Regional Medical Center (NARMC) is proud to announce the long-awaited addition of the Da Vinci XI Robotic Surgery System, a significant investment in advanced surgical care for the communities we serve. This new technology enables NARMC’s highly trained surgeons to perform complex procedures with greater precision, smaller incisions, and faster recovery times, offering patients minimally invasive options that were previously unavailable in our region.
Bringing Advanced Care Close to Home
For many years, patients in rural communities have had to travel long distances to access advanced surgical care. With the introduction of the Da Vinci XI system, NARMC is ensuring that our patients receive the same high-quality, technologically advanced surgical care found in larger metropolitan areas—without having to leave the community they call home.
“Our intent is to ensure that the people of the communities we serve have access to the same high level of care as those in major cities, but with the personalized, compassionate touch that only NARMC can provide.” said Sammie Cribbs Roberson, CEO and President of NARMC. “The Da Vinci Xi system is not just an investment in advanced technology—it’s an investment in our patients and the future of healthcare in our region.”
How Robotic Surgery Benefits Patients
The Da Vinci Xi system allows surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures with greater precision, control, and flexibility, leading to improved patient outcomes. Robotic-assisted surgeries can result in:
- Smaller incisions
- Less pain and scarring
- Reduced risk of infection
- Faster recovery times
This technology expands the scope of minimally invasive procedures NARMC can offer, providing more patients with the option of a less invasive surgery where, historically, open surgery would have been the only option. In complex procedures, the system also reduces the need to switch to open surgery mid-procedure, allowing surgeons to confidently manage difficult cases with enhanced precision.
Meeting Evolving Patient Needs
As healthcare continues to evolve, so do the needs of our patients. People today seek options that minimize recovery time, reduce pain, and improve outcomes. The Da Vinci XI system allows NARMC to meet these needs by expanding our ability to provide more advanced, patient-centered care.
“We are incredibly proud to offer this level of care to our community, combining the latest in surgical technology with the trusted, compassionate care NARMC has provided for generations,” said Dr. Corey Smith, a surgeon at NARMC. “This technology enhances our ability to deliver better outcomes while keeping patients close to home.”
NARMC’s da Vinci XI Robotic Surgery System will be used for a range of procedures in gynecology and urology, including:
- Total Hysterectomy
- Prostatectomy
- Myomectomy
- Nephrectomy
- Surgical Treatment of Endometriosis
- Pyeloplasty
What’s Next for NARMC’s Robotic Surgery Program:
NARMC looks forward to expanding the robotic surgery program in the near future to continue meeting the evolving healthcare needs of the communities we serve.
Community Hands-On Event
To celebrate the introduction of the Da Vinci Xi system, NARMC will be hosting a hands-on event on October 8th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the New Medical Tower’s first floor waiting room. All community members are invited to come experience the Da Vinci firsthand. With an interactive model on-site, community members can explore how this innovative system is transforming surgical care at NARMC.
