Volunteer Auxiliary Purchases Physical Therapy Equipment

The NARMC Volunteer Auxiliary recently purchased a new piece of equipment for outpatient physical therapy. The Shuttle Recovery Plus is an advanced leg press system that can be used by a wide range of patients, from athletes to bariatric rehabilitation clients and pediatric patients with developmental challenges. The system is comfortable and safe to use with more padding, support and resistance options. Additionally, it is easier for patients to get on and off the shuttle, making it ideal for seniors or those recovering from surgery.

“We are very excited for this new piece of equipment that makes physical therapy more accessible and comfortable for our patients,” says Brittany Martin, director of Rehabilitation Services. “Thank you to our amazing volunteers at NARMC for making this possible.”

The Auxiliary voted to purchase the therapy equipment from its general funds at the request of the Rehabilitation department. The funds were raised from the volunteer-run gift shop, thrift store and other fund-raising events. Collectively, the NARMC Auxiliary members volunteer more than 39,000 hours of their time each year to support the hospital and community.
