Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Julie's Story

It is Breast Cancer Awareness month and we want to share a story of survival!

Julie’s Story

Because of a routine mammogram in 2015, Julie Maxey’s world was turned upside down. In 2016, she began treatment for breast cancer.

“I was shocked when I was diagnosed,” Julie recalls. “But I told myself that I was better and stronger than cancer and that I would beat it.”

That is exactly what she did with the help of NARMC team members that quickly became like family to Julie.

“I found new family members,” she said of the Claude Parrish Cancer Center staff. “They are caring and professional. They actually made my appointments enjoyable.”

Julie is now cancer free, but still enjoys stopping by to say hello. She encourages women to not postpone their yearly mammogram appointment. Early detection is so important!
