Keeping your heart healthy

If you or someone you know is diagnosed with heart disease, keep in mind that you are not alone.

North Arkansas Regional Medical Center’s (NARMC) Cardiac Rehab department creates a support system for patients who are looking for a better lifestyle that caters to their heart health. Cardiac rehab is a program offered at NARMC specifically designed to improve cardiovascular health for patients who have experienced a heart attack, heart failure, angioplasty or heart surgery of any kind. In this program, patients can expect training, education and counseling on how to live with a healthier heart. NARMC’s Cardiac

Rehab center has an exercise room and specialty equipment specifically for patients suffering from heart disease. Reducing stress, understanding your heart condition and regular exercise are just a few benefits of the cardiac rehab program. NARMC’s goal is to help patients suffering from heart disease take back control over their lives. Their primary care physician must refer patients to the program.

February 11-17, 2018 is National Cardiac Rehab Week. If you or a loved one are suffering from heart disease, speak with your primary care physician about how you could benefit from the cardiac rehab program. NARMC’s trained staff is ready to help you on the road to recovery.

Vickie Somers, LPN, says “We have the potential to work together to reduce up to 80% of risk factors associated with coronary artery disease through exercise, education and lifestyle modification.”

On February 15, 2018, NARMC’s Cardiac Rehab department is hosting a class for their patients on Coronary Artery Disease. This class will be located in Conference Room A from 10-11 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. There will be no charge for this class. To sign up, please call 870-414-4545.
