WALK FOR LIFE
Gold Club member, Mary Englehardt, recently attained her goal of walking 1,245 miles, the equivalent of walking from Harrison to New York City. What seemed like an almost impossible aspiration to Mary has become a reality in just two years and four months. Mary began the journey walking on a treadmill 30 minutes at a time logging the miles as she progressed step by step. Now she is not satisfied unless she walks an hour and does so almost every day. Along the way, she has spent time in prayer, walking and talking with God.
On the first log sheet, dated April 4, 2006, she wrote, “New York, Here I come!” I’m sure at times, this seemed impossible to her. Her 45 pages of logs include inspirational notes about her time in prayer, miles walked in Texas, Battlefield Mall, and Eureka Springs, notations of birthdays, anniversaries, holidays spent with family, illnesses, surgery, and even her gardening. Through it all, she kept walking and finally reached New York City just in time for her 84th birthday and her 64th wedding anniversary.
Mary is pictured here with her husband, Warren as she was presented with a NY City tote bag and a gift certificate to Dixie Café.
Congratulations Mary!
